After a considerable delay, here's part 1 of "Duck Soup", the fifth Marx Brothers film and the last they made for Paramount (and incidentally the last Marx film with Zeppo). It bombed in 1933, but is now (rightfully, IMO) considered to be one of the funniest movies of all time.BTW, "Duck Soup" also marks (no pun intended) the first time Margaret Dumont worked with the Marxes on a script written directly for the screen- her two previous films with them had been based on stage plays.

Weikko79 is just being picky. The ELEMENTS of screwball are all OVER the Marx Brothers films. Wikipedia also says you can find screwball qualities in Oscar Wilde and, yes, even Shakespeare. "It Happened One Night" is just a film where it all comes together - "officially," anyway. But you're NOT wrong. Films of the Marx Bros., Max Linder, Chaplin and others were already there, Wikipedia notwithstanding. A director associated with the genre is Leo McCarey; he directed "Duck Soup."

Oh, alright, thanks man. I appreciate the correction.

I'm sorry, but you've got it all wrong. Screwball comedies only started a year after this comedy was made, with Capra's "It Happened One Night" and Hawks's "Twentieth Century", both released in 1934. Screwball comedies were movies involving "normal" (often very sophisticated) people to whom all sorts of weird and "screwy" things started happening. The Marx Bros movies belonged to a different category. Check Wikipedia if you want to learn more.

Well, I'm assuming they call it many things. But, one of the terms I've heard is "screwball"; incorporating witty dialogue, slapstick, and over the top ridiculous scenes mostly played out by Harpo (I love Harpo to death).
