This isn't even vaguely new. "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin referenced the Lord of the Rings. Ritchie Blackmore has used these kinds of themes in Rainbow and Night. Black Sabbath goes a bit into fantasy with some of their stuff, so basically the three major bands that pretty much started hard rock/heavy metal used fantasy themes. Ronnie James Dio's first moderately successful band was even called Elf.

I think I've heard of a few of those. I find this concept extremely amusing lol. I never knew power metal mixed with fantasy. I love it!!!

Well there's a lot of epic fantasy metal, and i love that genre of music, but this kind of nerdiness is pretty unique.Maybe you've heard of bands like Dionysus, Rhapsody, Dragonforce, Blind Guardian... these are all power metal but they have a big fantasy influence.

I've never heard this type of music with this type of theme put together lol. is this extremely unique or have I just never encountered the world of fantasty metal?
