yes but dolphins are a species of whale. The largest dolphin is the Orca... I'm not sure if Pilot Whales fall under the 'dolphin' category, but either way, dolphins are still a species of whale. So it's not a big deal if they call them dolphins or whales really. Just like a great dane is as much as a dog as a chihuahua... they're just 'breeds' of dogs. A dolphin is sort of like a 'breed' of whale, I suppose, though I don't think the word 'breed' properly suffices for this certain... thing. x_x

This was just a play maneuver that cetaceans(the group that contains dolphins) often do to each other. The Pilot Whale was unaware that humans can't hold their breath as long as they can, since its VERY rare that they even have any contact with humans. And to all you people who MUST call these animals dolphins, SHUT UP. The narrorator was simply calling the animal by its name: shortfinned pilot WHALE. pilot /WHALLLE/.

i would much rather die in a whales mouth in the ocean then by a fu.cker around a corner with a knife or a gun

friggin hell Starduster, its only a bloody whale lol calm down. bye.
Islandboyy02 (January 1, 1970 at 11:59 am)
But aren't dolphins a sub-species of whales?
thestarduster (January 1, 1970 at 11:59 am)
oh right Higgy...so the people making this documentary call them 'whales' when they are dolphins. Mind you, I guess dolphins going after humans would look kind of ruin the public perception of them being all "sweet and gentle", don't you think?
higgyfoo (January 1, 1970 at 11:59 am)
yes, correct. but in documentaries like this, they have consultants and experts to verify the facts of wot they r documenting. i cant remember them saying anything about dolphin.
thestarduster (January 1, 1970 at 11:59 am)
higgy, I am merely stating a fact. There are many dolphins with the world 'whale' in their name.
higgyfoo (January 1, 1970 at 11:59 am)
keep ur knickers on, and yeh, u keep tellin urself that they're dolphins lol

These are not whales...they are DOLPHINS! C'mon...atleast get the basics right. The reason this woman was most likely attacked is because she was going up to these completely wild animals putting her hands all over them. People make an exception to dolphins being wild and behave with utter stupidity around them. I know of a number of cases where people have been jaw clapped at,charged at, pulled underwater and bitten by dolphins. They are wild animals for heaven's sake!
